Epic Games has officially updated the public release schedule, giving developers a clearer timeline of upcoming features from Q3 2026 all the way through Q2 2027. This roadmap is packed with highly anticipated tools that will change how we build on the Island.

To get a realistic view of what is actually shipping for Fortnite Creative, it helps to filter the noise and look directly at Epic's Developer Roadmap.

By focusing on items with "High" and "Medium" confidence ratings that are also gathering community upvotes, we can see exactly what Epic is prioritizing.

Here is a quick look at what is coming and what it means for your workflow.

High Confidence & Highly Anticipated

These features are marked with "High" confidence, meaning Epic is very sure they will hit their target release windows. You can safely start planning your projects around them.

• Verse for Materials (Q1 2027): This feature stands out with a "High" confidence rating, and the highest visible community upvotes on the board. This guarantees a powerful new control over materials is locked in for early next year. The Material Editor lets developers declare and edit Verse fields where the material itself is authored.

• New Virtual Machine (VM) (Q3 2026): Marked with "High" confidence and holding community interest this signals a high probability for the release. The new VM is easier to extend with new language features, and it executes Verse code more efficiently — 5x faster on the benchmark suite. It also unlocks a sampling profiler and debugger, which follow it rather than ship with it.

• Vehicle Template (Q4 2026): Also sitting at "High" confidence. If you are developing a racing map, you can reliably expect this foundational tool before the end of the year. Vehicle Templates provide subclass-able vehicle prefabs, so developers can customize a working vehicle through Verse and Scene Graph without rebuilding its driving and networked physics.

• Redirectors (Q4 2026): A "High" confidence organizational tool that will make managing assets much smoother. Redirectors keep references working when an asset is renamed or moved, letting developers reorganize content as a project grows without breaking it.

### Medium Confidence Community Favorites

While not guaranteed, these features have a "Medium" probability of shipping on time and have caught the community's attention with upvotes, making them strong candidates for their respective quarters.

• Single Body Rigid Simulation (Q4 2026): Gaining traction for Q4, this experimental feature will bring much-needed physics enhancements to the Scene Graph. It's for developers who currently reach for actor-level workarounds to apply forces to, or receive collision events from, one part of a mesh.

• Ratings-Based Matchmaking (Q4 2026) High community upvote with medium priority from Epic. Ratings-based matchmaking is opt-in per island, so players meet others of similar rating rather than a field drawn without regard to skill or other factors set by the creator.

• Cross Island Shared Persistence (Q4 2026) High community support but a medium priority. Allows a Verse developer to share the same weak_map among multiple islands that they own.

• Live Variables MVP (Q2 2027): Sitting at a medium probability with community backing, this is set to be a massive help for live testing and iterating without constant re-baking. Live Variables let you define variables which update automatically whenever the result of those expressions change.

• Data Layers in Scene Graph (Q2 2027) Medium priority with support from the community. Data Layering support for Scene Graph entities, allowing on-demand toggle and streaming of defined sets of entities at runtime the way they already do with actors.

What This Means for Developers

Epic’s confidence ratings are a developer's best friend for risk management. Features marked "Low" (like the highly requested Verse Debugger or the Community Testing Framework) are at a higher risk of being delayed to later quarters. By anchoring your long-term map designs around "High" confidence items like the Vehicle Template and Verse for Materials, you ensure your development pipeline won't be stalled waiting on delayed tech.
