v42.30 Fortnite Ecosystem update. What's new?

LLM-Powered NPCs (Conversations Template)

You can now build dynamic, LLM-powered characters with distinct voices that respond to player actions and directly influence gameplay.

Custom Held Items

Say goodbye to hacking weapon classes into visual props. The new held_item_template allows you to create functional, non-weapon carry-able items. It ships with a default torch that you can instantly reskin into lanterns, banners, or roleplay tools for players to equip.

Workflow, Memory, & Backend Updates

• Real-Time Moderation (Content Pre-Checks): UEFN will now flag potential content violations directly in the editor as you build, using warning icons and a Moderation Message Log. This prevents you from getting blindsided during the final publish review.

• Memory Reporting in Real MB: The memory thermometer is shifting out of live sessions and into the profiling tools. It now calculates automatically on every cook and displays your budget in real units (a 300 MB limit) rather than arbitrary numbers.

• No-Code Ability Templates: You no longer need to use Verse to create an Ability Template context. Targeting queries have also been upgraded to allow highly granular target selection.

• Verse API Shift: The /Fortnite.com/Marketplace API has been moved to /UnrealEngine.com/Marketplace. If you use a using {/UnrealEngine.com} statement, you will need to update your local symbols to avoid code conflicts.

• Spooky Content: The Chapter 6 Season 4 Witch Broom and Slap Candy Corn have been added to the content browser just in time for Fortnitemares.

Get these tools into your development pipeline early so your next launch is fully optimized for the new standard.
